ANDY LITZINGER
Andy Litzinger is currently a Forensic Electrical Consultant for Fire Research and Technology, LLC (FRT). He has served in the United States Marine Corps and has held the position of Naval Aviation Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) where he certified Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) safe for flight in accordance with all Naval Aviation Standards in the United States as well as in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, additionally he has held the position of Crew Leader in support of combat operations during his multiple deployments (2005-2007) to Iraq and Avionics Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC). During his time in the Marine Corps, Andy maintained a Secret Clearance as well as an Interim Top Secret Clearance. Andy is also a trained Residential/Commercial Electrician and was awarded the SUNY ACT award for Alfred State College during his time there. While at Monroe Community College Andy took first place in the Engineering division for the MCC Scholar’s Day Competition. Andy was also part of a team that designed and built an autonomous boat that was showcased at the Rochester Institute of Technology Imagine RIT event. Graduated from RIT with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Andy was employed for four years designing electrical system and subsystems for Hospitals, Lockheed Martin Aeronautical, Public & Private Schools, Design & Manufacturing centers and Gaming Casinos. Andy is also an FAA part 107 certified Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) operator. Through his career at FRT, he has conducted and documented hundreds of Fire Scenes and Laboratory Examinations as well as the evaluation of electrical failures as it pertains to causation, defect or failure mode. While at FRT he has conducted testing, which includes switch and receptacle failures, arc testing, modes of electrical system failures as well as identify failures using Scan Electron Microscopes (SEM) and High resolution 3D microscope imaging. Burn testing includes multi-level burn cells, generator failure testing and fireplace testing.
